There are many definitions of an antique classic car. (...)

There are many definitions of an antique classic car. Some define it in years such the Classic Car Club of America that defines it as "a distinctive automobile, either American built or foreign, manufactured or produced between the years 1925 and 1948. Basically, a classic automobile could be high priced when initially produced and built in limited quantities." This definition is rather straightforward and very definitive in such a way that other people or countries have made their own definition of a classic car to include later models and other distinctive cars that would merit a classic tag.

Advantages of Getting an Antique Classic Car

Some people might wonder why other people buy an antique classic car. Well, the foremost reason is because they love to tinker around with an antique classic car. Let's face it, all the different people in the world have different likes and dislikes, these people just like to have classic cars and are financially stable enough to be able to afford an antique classic car. Although, antique classic car collectors may have other more modern vehicles, they like to restore and use the older cars that they have. It is a matter of satisfying one's self with something that you have wanted for a long time.

Another more logical reason why some people buy an antique classic car is because some of these automobiles make a good investment. There are many people out there who actively collect antique classic cars and keep them for a later selling date. These antique classic car enthusiasts love the classic cars and also like to make a profit from them. Although, the market for the antique classic car is basically limited because most of these automobiles are not in production anymore, many collectors still manage to get their hands on restored cars or refurbished cars that have not made it to the stage yet.

Restoring an antique classic car may take time and a lot of money. This is because some of its original parts may not be available anymore and the collector will need to have them especially made. Sometimes the cost of restoring the automobile is more than the cost of buying it. These cases are when the antique classic car is in dire need of a makeover and have just been found in the scrap heap.

There may not be enough reasons to justify the expense of buying a classic car but the satisfaction and contentment that most collectors feel when they have what they want is reason enough.

You've just bought yourself a used car. The car was cheap and you left the used car lot with the feeling that you managed to come out reasonably well. Then the car conks out - what happens now?

Under other circumstances, you would probably have no choice but live with your choice. Fortunately, there is a law that would help you. The used car lemon law is the most useful law for any person who buys a used car. The law provides a legal remedy for those buy or lease used cars that turn out to have outstanding mechanical difficulties, those which are better known as "lemons".

The law has used car dealers give their buyers a written warranty. The warrant requires dealers to repair any defects found in the car, free of charge. The dealer can also choose to reimburse the repair costs of the repairs to the buyer. It also notes that if the car isn't repaired after a number of attempts, the buyer is supposed to receive a full refund of the purchase.

For the law to cover your purchase, check your local state laws. Usually, these four conditions should be met for the lemon law to be invoked:

1) The car was purchased, transferred or leased after either a) eighteen thousand miles of use or b) two years from the original release; and

2) The purchase or lease price has the value of at least one thousand five hundred dollars; and

3) The car has been driven less than or equal to a hundred thousand miles at the time of lease or purchase; and

4) The car was used for non-commercial purposes i.e. personal use. This means the car should have been used for household or family purposes. This includes personal transportation to and from work and household errands. The car could have been used for a mix of business and personal use but it still should have been used predominantly for personal use.

The law can also be used to cover motorcycles; however some states exempt other vehicles from the used car law. Note that the transfer of ownership of a used car is also covered by the law; however a private purchase from a private individual is not protected by the law. You can choose to consult a lawyer to see what sort of action you may take.

Remember the law and check with your state before you buy a used car. If your state has such a law, you should feel safe about your purchase when you leave the used car lot.

Besides the obvious reason, transportation, are there any other pressing reasons for buying a car? Perhaps it is a necessity like requiring inexpensive transportation to and from work. (...)

Besides the obvious reason, transportation, are there any other pressing reasons for buying a car? Perhaps it is a necessity like requiring inexpensive transportation to and from work. Or, maybe you are a "stay at home" Mom or Dad and need a vehicle to haul children around to school and various other activities. Regardless of your reason, make certain that purchasing the car is for a valid purpose and not just because you want to outdo "The Joneses."

In this guide we will show you some of the pitfalls to avoid as well as information to make your selection much easier. The following are basic reasons you should consider when making that all important car purchase.

Is it a good buy?

The best time period to buy that car you have always dreamed of having is later in the month. Usually, there are numerous rebate programs and bonus offered by month's end based on a dealer's monthly sales quotas. The idea is that, sometimes dealers fall short of meeting their sales objectives. If their performance is assessed by the end of the month this can prove to be good news to most car buyers since dealers now have no choice but to sell vehicles at a price that is lower than their norm. They are pressed to make more sales that will count for their monthly sales and that puts you at an advantage as a buyer.

Peace of mind

Sometimes dealers do a song and dance routine just to make that sale. The result is that often car buyers end up with car features they realize later on they do not really need and a price they actually could not afford. You can avoid this potential stress by always remembering to trust your instincts. If ever you feel in doubt, the answer — don't — do not let yourself be pressured to making that purchase now.

This is a common strategy of car dealers wherein they compel the customer to buy that car, now, this moment, today!

Do not forget that you should always sleep on it and then decide. This is a lot better than making your mind up now and forever holding your peace.

First Impression

To quote a common cliché, first impressions usually last. Though not always true, when buying cars, you could get many ideas just by observing how car sales people deal with you. Usually, these non-verbal signals are fairly correct enough enabling you to know what to expect from your car purchase.

If at any time you feel that the person selling you the car is not trustworthy or simply do not like him or her, always remember that you have the option to leave. It is advisable that you do not sell yourself too much. Time is precious, especially yours. So do not waste it. You are always free to politely walk away, anytime, anywhere, and in any way you like it. But if there are not many car dealers in your area, you may want to linger for a few moments more and wait until the negotiations you have with your dealer breaks down and you simply have no option but to run off.

The Invoice Price

Another thing to consider when buying a car is the invoice price. Make sure to ask that you see the invoice. If dealers are working their tails off against it, you have enough reason to believe that the car being offered is an unpleasant deal.

Usually, the price on the invoice is the cost the dealer paid the manufacturer for buying the car. This is before any rebates or incentives were included. Once this is known, only then will you have an idea as to how much the dealer could profit from each vehicle sold. Knowing this information could enable one to be more confident then in negotiating the price.

The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price

In layman's term, this is commonly called the sticker price. This is the price one usually sees in the window of the car that is being sold.

Never ever consider paying the amount stated on the sticker price. This amount is just the starting point to your negotiations with the dealer.

Incentives

There are instances when manufacturers provide the dealers with a little something extra, like money, rebates or a bonus because they are able to sell cars that are either overstocked or undersold. Make sure that before actually purchasing a car, you were able to know if that car you are buying has some dealer incentives attached to it. If so, take off that amount from the car's purchase price and have yourself a very good deal and hopefully, a very good car as well.

The Chevrolet car is named after one of the two founders of the company that first manufactured the cars that carry this brand name. Louis Chevrolet was a race car driver who also designed cars. His designs were some of the best of his time. This company started providing cars as far back as 1911. The first cars were built to compete with those from the Ford Motor Company including the car called the Model T. Cars bearing the name of Chevrolet are still manufactured by General Motors, and the antique Chevrolet cars are admired. Some of the antique Chevrolet cars are from various times in the history of this brand. Any car over the age of twenty-five years is considered an antique or classic car.

Most of the antique car enthusiasts group these cars in two distinct categories. Cars built and sold before World War II usually go into one group while the other cars are put into the second group. There are some marvelous antique Chevrolet cars available from each of these two groups. There are some beautiful antique Chevrolet cars from the 1920’s that are in mint condition and they are easy to drive.

Popular Antique Chevrolet Cars Include Roadsters And Corvettes

The glorious name Chevrolet is used on cars that are very different. There are antique Chevrolet cars that are sleek Corvettes and there are also pickup trucks. There are antique Chevrolet cars that are called “Roadster” and “Tourer”. The antique cars from Chevrolet are sought after by collectors from around the world. Some of these cars carry two passengers, but there are some classic station wagons as well. The antique Chevrolet cars come in many different colors, and some of these antiques cars are considered to be luxury cars because of their use and value when new.

Some of the antique cars are more valuable because only a few were made in that group at the time of manufacture. Some of these cars were very limited in number. The Chevrolet Imperial Landau was valuable and remains a very rare car because only about three hundred of these cars were made in the first place. Some of these antique cars are admired because they represent important advances in automobile engineering. Some antique Chevrolet cars are in important museums while others are used by their owners on a daily basis. An antique Chevrolet moving down a freeway or country road is usually a cheerful sight to see. Most people viewing these antique cars are most impressed.

Car dealers are often portrayed as predators just waiting for an unsuspecting customer to come along. This is because many people believe that they are always on the prowl for unsuspecting buyers that are not very knowledgeable about cars. This can be unfair because we can argue that there are car dealers out there who would not cheat just to get an extra profit.

How do you tell the difference?

To avoid becoming a victim of sneaky car dealers, look at the following auto financing scams.

Yoyo scam

You will be allowed by the dealer to bring the car home as soon as possible. The dealer will take care of the financing, a few days later he will contact you again and tell you that there was a problem with your financing plan. He will tell you to set up a new financing scheme through him which, of course, will be at a higher cost and this will also entail a very high profit on the dealer's part.

Be wary of this trick and avoid it at all costs if you detect it. If you have a bad credit standing, don't have your financing done by the dealer and make arrangements for your own financing. If you ever do avail of the dealer's financing, you should never drive the car back to your home immediately. Wait for at least 24 hours just to make sure that the processing of your financing scheme has been completed already. By allowing 1 whole day to pass by, you are assured that the dealer cannot use this scam on you.

Window etching trick

Window etching is a very common scam. What the dealer will do is to offer to etch the VIN number of your car onto the window of the car for a price. Basically, the price ranges from as low as $300 to as high as $1,000. Some buyers think that they did a good job by being able to talk down the price to a few hundred dollars, but unfortunately for them, a few hundred dollars is still a good amount of money. The best way to avoid this kind of scam is for you to buy an etching kit that you can do on your own. This is available in most auto shops and costs around $20. See how much they profit from you!

Preparation fees

For preparing your car, the dealer will often add an additional preparation fee to your bill. Just to conduct a test drive, replace fuses, or take the car's plastic cover off will have your bill increasing by at least $500! If you visit other shops, you can get the information that these add on costs are already included in the MSRP as set by the manufacturer. Some dealers automatically add it to the buyer's order to make it look mandatory. To take care of this scam, you can ask the dealer to classify it as credit (it should be identical to the amount of the preparation fee) on the following line. If the dealer does not agree to this, you can just simply walk away from the dealership.

Market adjustment

The dealer will convince you that the vehicle you want is selling like hot cakes and very popular. In order to sell you the vehicle, they will do some "market adjustments" amounting to a few thousand dollars. This is usually indicated by a tag near the MSRP tag set by the manufacturer. Even if the car you want is very popular and is very much in demand, if it is in stock you should not be tempted because getting a "popular" car is not worth it if you have to pay a few thousand dollars more. You should never pay more than the MSRP set by the manufacturers. If you do, then you are allowing others to take advantage of you.

Warranty extension

Although this type of scam is old already, it is still being used and there are many who fall for this trick. What happens in this kind of scam is that when you make a loan for the car, the dealer will tell you that you are required to purchase an extended warranty because it is one of the conditions of the bank. There is a simple way of avoiding this scam. Ask the dealer to specify clearly in writing that the extended warranty is required for the loan to be approved. The dealer will most probably find a way to have it excluded. If he persists in including the extended warranty, do not do business with this guy and go to other dealerships.

These are some of the most common auto financing scams that are utilized by some car dealers. Always keep these in mind if you are going to buy a car. If you or a friend were treated fairly by a dealer in the past, consider using the same dealership again. It's a good indication that they do care about their customers and aren't just looking for a "fast buck."

Think very carefully and do not buy on impulse. Good luck to you and go get that car!

There are many challenges you will face when buying either a new or used car. It depends on the model that you want, how much is the budget, the size of your family and the options that go with it.

If you have an idea on the right car, then a little research on the value of the car in the market to date will be able to help the you when approaching a dealer.

This can be done by checking the internet or looking through the local newspaper before going to the various dealers in the area to make comparisons.

If the ideal car is not available on the lot, the if you tell the dealer about it these people can help by looking for that particular model or offer a similar car similar to your choice.

Since dealers often want to get rid of the cars quickly, it is also possible to get a good deal on what is available as long as it meets your requirements.

Most cars have a maintenance record. The buyer must ask the dealer to see it and if it is not available, then you should contact the dealership or repair shop where most of the work was done.

The buyer has the right to see a copy of the dealer's warranty. To be safe, you can also ask if a service contract is provided in buying the used car. This contract that is offered by the dealer may or may not provide coverage that is in the manufacturer's warranty which may cost extra.

Since the warranty usually comes when buying a car and the service contract does not, it is best to ask if you need to avail of by answering some questions;

•	What are the differences between the coverage of the warranty and the service contract?

•	What repairs are covered?

•	Is routine maintenance covered?

•	Who will pay for labor and parts if brought to the shop?

•	Who is authorized to perform the repairs and where?

•	How long does the service contract last?

•	What are the cancellation and refund policies?

Just looking at the car will not give information if the car is in good condition. It should be test driven under various road conditions such as the highway or in traffic.

Since most people are not that knowledgeable about cars, it is advisable to bring the car to a reliable mechanic for proper inspection.

Resorting to buying used cars is not a bad idea. For some people who cannot afford to buy brand new cars, second hand cars offer valuable alternatives to saving money for other important matters.

In fact, in a 2005 survey, more than 60% of people surveyed are becoming more open to procuring used cars rather than brand new.

Attractive as it may seem, before you decide to make a purchase of and used cars models, there are some things you need to know and advice that will help you make the most of buying used cars.

Below are some recommendations that you may want to follow to secure your finances and optimize your car buying experience.

•	Research Police Records

Do some searching on the web or through your Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or local police. These agencies will be able to help you track the legal history related to the used car you are trying to purchase.

Stolen cars reported to police agencies are tracked for possible resale. Some reputable websites offering these kinds of services like Car.com and invoice Dealers offer reasonable car package and discounts which will allure you to buying new cars instead due to their competitive and reasonable prices.

Whether buying used or new cars, both options have advantages and disadvantages that the car buyer alone would be the best person to be knowledgeable about as he or she would know what would work well as according to his/her needs, wants, preference, budget and whim.

The following are basic factors to consider in buying a used or a new car:

The price.

Those on a stringent budget would find used cars a good deal. Though there are a handful of new cars that sell for less than ten thousand dollars, the ones that cost less usually have only a few amenities, with some having none of the following: air-conditioning, stereo. Sometimes the cars come with only two doors or one of the power windows is broken, if there are power windows at all. On the other hand, the availability of three to four-year old used cars loaded with more than the bare-boned features of a basic used car – such as a CD player, air conditioning, airbags – gives the used car buyer a great deal. But still, the pricey new cars are costly because of the updated safety features they carry: de-powered airbags as well as "smart" front and side protection airbags. New vehicles also carry whimsical features such as: beverage holders that keep drinks cool or hot.

The choice depends on you, your priorities and your purchasing power.

The warranty.

New vehicles usually are under warranty for a minimum of three years to a maximum of ten. Hyundai and Kia provide ten year warranty for their vehicles. DaimlerChrysler offers a seven year warranty for their Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. So does Isuzu.

Some eligible late-model used cars could complete their original warranty and could just as well be extended if they are protected by the vehicle certification program. If not, used car owners could shell out a few hundred to be able to extend their service warranty or contract.

The mileage.

Newly-bought used cars come with mileage already spent. New vehicles basically do not need maintenance for the first thousands of miles, and if they do, car manufacturers cover the oil change and their tune-up as well as other fundamental maintenance services.

Specially made cars

Used car buyers usually have to content themselves with as-is vehicles whose color may not be that perfect shade of red, green or blue. Buyers of new cars however, have the option of a varied range of colors or car features that used cars have not. Car dealers usually cater to the tastes and impulse of a car buyer and usually would even satisfy a customer by specially-ordering a vehicle.

Nowadays, life can be pretty hard. Everything is increasing with prices escalating out of site! This makes us all targets of potential scams and frauds.

With all these swindlers and scammers lurking just about anywhere, it is best to always be on guard and to know the things to be avoided in order to prevent the probability of being a victim of frauds and swindles.

Consequently, people who are buying used cars should also be aware of the different fraudulent activities being employed by unscrupulous people in order to have the best buy of used cars.

Moreover, people who are aware that the cars they have bought are stolen, chances are, they will be held liable.

Here are some things to avoid when buying used cars:

1. Used car buyers should avoid any transactions that are "too good to be true." This will only make the matter worst if the buyer will believe that the deal is the best-used car deal ever.

2. Buyers should avoid buying used cars from sellers that do not provide a permanent address or the actual place of work of the phone number given.

3. It is important for a buyer to check on the VIN or the vehicle identification number plate. It must be securely fastened onto the used car's dashboard, with no rivets that are loosened.

Loosened rivets would mean that the VIN plate does not fit or it has been previously removed.

4. Also, the buyer should also avoid buying used cars that have VIN plates that are touched up, its paint is newly retouched, and the numbers look as if they are not the original "factory numbers."

VIN plates can be easily swapped by a thief and use those that are taken from a destroyed vehicle.

5. As much as possible, it would be better to avoid buying a used car that is freshly painted. There are instances wherein the stolen car's identity is being changed through changing its paint color.

6. Used car buyers should avoid buying cars from a seller that cannot present the car's "insurance policy." This could mean that the car is stolen or the seller is not the true owner of the car.

It is extremely important for the buyers to take note of these things before buying a used car. An ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure!

The market for quality old cars is not as broad as some would like it to be. Basically, what happens with an antique car trader is that they sell old car which have been restored to some degree. The price that the antique car trader bases his sales on is the degree of restoration and the model of the car. Some old cars get to sell for a higher price if they have been restored with original aftermarket parts.

How to Look for an Antique Car Trader

It is not so advisable to do business regarding vintage or antique cars in the internet. Considering that these automobiles can cost quite a lot of money, it is better to see the automobile first before you purchase it.

You can look for a reputable antique car trader in the web and then start your transaction from there. Initially, you should make sure that the trader is of good repute and has done business with someone you know. Preferably, that person whom you know should be satisfied with the transaction.

You can also search for an antique car trader in some antique car trader magazines. You can at least review their works in it and also be able to see recommendation by other people. You can also ask your other antique car aficionado friends if they know someone who knows someone who can recommend a good antique car trader. There are many traders around who try to pass themselves off as the best traders but they are all just interested in making a profit. Sometimes, it is the traders who ware passionate about their work that can produce the best antique cars restorations.

An antique car trader can also make profit from his antique cars but his restorations should also be well done and not shoddy. Most of the time, the antique car trader will have supervised the restoration of the car and may have first hand knowledge of what has been done to it. Intimate knowledge of the restoration could mean that he is concerned about the standard of the car and is also concerned regarding the perfection of the restoration.

Some antique car traders just slap together some parts and try to pas it off as a restoration. You should also have a general knowledge of antique cars so you will not be taken for a ride by the more unscrupulous antique card trader. Read up on the trade before venturing on your own to do business with traders.
